Ok, I’ll just come out and say it. I miss Steve. I have spent an entire year planning for Steve’s departure, and I’m surprised at how it has affected me. As I speak with members, it is clear there are a variety of reactions to Steve’s departure.

I am so very thankful for this church and I am thankful for all the wonderful things we’ve accomplished in 2018 and looking forward to 2019. About the time this newsletter goes out Steve will be wrapping up his full time ministry, and we will begin a new chapter in our church history.

Each year around the holiday season, I get reflective and think about the wonderful things in my life. I have to say that I am thankful for the service you all have allowed me to provide to the church this year. It has been challenging at times but more than anything, it has been fulfilling.

This has been a very busy past few months and is a very exciting time in the church. The sanctuary renovation is under way and scheduled to be complete by the end of the year. We have accomplished much so far this year and with only two months remaining, we have much more to go.

This will be my last column. After getting over the shock of having to write something other than a prescription, I confess I have enjoyed it. I have attempted clear communication about issues important to the board and, I hope, to you.
