A team of volunteers worked at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank’s warehouse on Saturday, November 2.  Our team spent a busy morning sorting commodities and repacking boxes for delivery to distribution centers from which the Food Bank provides food to those in need in our community.  Team members included were Kayla Bourg, Wendy Bourg, Bryan Costello, Gavin Taylor, Ron Juneau, Dottie Kelly, Bryan McDaniel, Betty Powers, Pierre Sargent, and Cokie Thompson.  Thanks, volunteers, for your work on behalf of our church in its partnership with the Food Bank and support of its mission. Our first volunteer service of the new year will be serving at the Holy Grill, Tuesday, January 21 to Friday, January 24 for our annual service during Martin Luther King, Jr. week.  Sign-up will begin on Sunday, December 29. However, feel free to email me at prior to that date to be placed on the schedule with your preferred day or days of service.

It has been my honor to represent our church on the Board of Directors of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge for the past six years, two of the years as president of the Federation. My service was cited at the Federation’s annual meeting on Sunday, November 17 and ended at the Board meeting that followed. I will continue as a delegate along with church member Donna Yelverton as liaisons to the Interfaith Federation. Our church has been a member of the Federation since its founding in 1986 and supports its vision of “unity, justice, and peace” and its mission of “cultivating interfaith understanding and cooperation to reduce human suffering in Greater Baton Rouge.”
