Thank you to those noble people who attended the Congregational Meeting in September and to those who joined us in November for the Town Hall. I hope the first was clear and efficient and the second was engaging. We appreciate your attendance and learned a lot at the Town Hall. I want you to know that 1) we take your input seriously, and 2) we are working hard on issues of quorum and absentee voting. We do not want you to stay for a meeting and then have us not reach quorum.

With the sanctuary enhancements will come the technology for those who are physically unable to attend in person to still be able to participate fully. Alas, we are not there yet but hope to be within the next 12 months. Until then we ask you to be patient and please attend the meetings if you are able. At the January Congregational Meeting we will do a limited technical trial with a few members who cannot physically attend. If you or someone you know is interested in participating, let me know. This trial will be technical only and have no effect on quorum or voting. If you can attend, please do. We need a quorum to vote on the budget.

If you want to find out some of the other things we are working on, you are, of course, invited to ask a board member and to attend a board meeting. They are open meetings.

I see governance at our church as an iterative process – as is life. I use iterative to mean try something, evaluate, adjust, try again. The goal is continuous improvement. Grammarians, feel free to weigh in.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, light candles and sing (or hum quietly).
