The holiday season is filled with special music at UCBR. On December 3, the children's choir will join us for services, singing O Christmas Tree.

On December 10, the adult choir will join us for an Advent anthem, and a new setting by David Lindenfeld of the Advent carol Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming. We will also have Jesse Bateman as the oboe soloist for this service.

On December 17, the choir will again be in services with a fun arrangement of the English carol Masters in this Hall. We will have our traditional string trio with us as well, playing festive carols.

Saturday, December 16, New Orleans Gay Men’s Chorus Concert, 7:30pm. Advance tickets are available for $18 at nogmc.com or tickets at the door for $20.

The Winter Solstice service on December 21 will feature the Wilder Janes, a trio of Louisiana songwriters, consisting of Becca Babin, Heather Feierabend, and Melissa Wilson, who make lush acoustic music.  All women sing lead and harmony and are also multi instrumentalists, playing instruments including harp, marimba, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, guitar, and percussion.  Since each of them writes songs, the voice of the song is always fresh in sonic tones and in lyrical perspective. There's no girl group kitsch, just a break from the noise and action of the everyday world where for a moment everything is in synchrony.

Our traditional candlelight service on Christmas Eve will be another special service. We will be joined again by our friends Daniel and Jennifer Cassin and Thomas Oswald as our string ensemble, and the choir will sing a special Christmas anthem.
