Signup will begin Sunday, August 4 for our service preparing "Bags of Hope" on Saturday, August 31, 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul dining room.  This will be an all church/intergenerational volunteer opportunity for members and children with a parent or a designated adult.

Our church was represented by another team of RE children and their parents who prepared "Bags of Hope" in the St. Vincent de Paul dining room on Saturday, June 8.

When the "The Church that shows up" became our church-year theme several years ago it was an apt articulation of an ethos that took root from our very beginnings and has run through the course of our history.

Sign-up will continue through May 19 for our second service of the year at the Holy Grill from Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24.  Five servers are needed for each day. Sign-up at tables near the door in Fellowship Hall or email rcureau@cox.net.

The Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge will present the Annual Sounds of CommUNITY Concert, 4pm, Sunday, May 5, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 544 Government Street.

Holy Grill Director, Tonia Causey, met with a group of regular Holy Grill volunteers during a visit to our church on February 11. Her visit was part of a current initiative of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge, which sponsors the daily meal.

As always, our members can be depended on to show up in service to the community. This was true of our service at the Holy Grill from January 22 to January 25 when teams of volunteers provided service each day, with several repeat servers and a first-time non-member volunteer.

Ours is a generous congregation, and the end of the year is a good time to take note of some of the ways that generosity of time and resources have helped to meet some of the many needs in our community.
