When November comes around, gratitude becomes an important word. Right now I am very grateful for the cool days and breezes that make it possible to do my work on the patio. The usual assortment of squirrels and birds, along with cats stirring up the mix keeps the yard active and busy.

Signs of autumn in my yard are quiet but very exciting.

> My lemon tree has outdone itself this year, and there must be

about 50 lemons on it. The tree is small and the branches are

leaving over because the fruit is heavy.

Our church year has begun and the Sunday before Labor Day our Jazz Worship Service.  Again this year we hear guest instrumentalists along with vocalists from our congregation.

August Sundays begin with the Gospel Service on August 5, with Marie Flowers directing the Gospel Choir and Everrett Parker accompanying.  Marie has put together a wonderful variety of music that illustrates the transcending power of Gospel Music.

May is going to be a month of vocal music from many different sources in our church community.

On April 1, we will recognize the 2nd and 3rd graders who have successfully navigated the Roots and Wings program. The choir will sing an anthem “Roots and Wings” as a response to the children’s presentation.

On March 4, the women’s ensemble of the choir will sing music for the services.   The Introit is a Spiritual Quodlibet arranged by Isaya Barnwell and the anthem text by Rabindranath Tagore has been set to music by Elizabeth Alexander.

Mark Your Calendars:  Friday Evening, February 10, 7:30, Fellowship Hall.   Singer/Songwriter/Comedian/ Satirist Roy Zimmerman returns for his third concert at our church.   This year we are changing the venue slightly to make it possible to have coffee/tea and munchies to enjoy
